Path 1 · Getting Started · Lesson 3 of 4

How to Get a Better Answer

You do not need a perfectly written question to use AI. A simple question is enough to begin, and you can keep talking until the answer is more useful.

Path 1 · Getting StartedLesson 3 of 4

You do not need to learn special commands or get every word just right. Start with what you want, then add a little more about what would help.

A simple questionA fine place to start
“Help me plan dinner.”

AI can offer ideas, but it does not yet know who you are cooking for, what you have, or how much time you have.

A little more detailNow AI knows what may help
“Help me plan dinner. I'm cooking for two people, I have chicken and potatoes, and I'd like something easy that takes less than 30 minutes.”

This tells AI who it is for, what ingredients are available, what kind of result you want, and your 30-minute limit.

Then keep the conversation going

“That sounds good, but can you make it even simpler?”

The first answer is just a beginning. You can ask for a change in your own words.

You could also say

  • Give me another idea.
  • Explain that more simply.
  • Make it shorter.
  • Can you give me step-by-step instructions?
  • I don't understand that part.
  • Try again, but make it more casual.
Try it yourself

Practice keeping the conversation going

There is no perfect answer here. Try these three small steps with something from your own life.

  1. For example: planning dinner, writing a message, planning a trip, understanding something confusing, or making a to-do list.

    • Planning dinner
    • Writing a message
    • Planning a trip
    • Understanding something confusing
    • Making a to-do list
  2. What should AI know to make the answer more useful to you?

    • Make it shorter.
    • Explain it more simply.
    • Give me another option.
    • Make it friendlier.
    • Show me step by step.

Your conversation

Key takeaway

You don't have to get it right the first time.

Start the conversation, see what AI gives you, and then tell it what you want changed.
